Hi! My name is Ayesha and I’m currently a second-year medical student at RCSI. I know firsthand how stressful and overwhelming school can feel, especially when it comes to exams, study techniques, and figuring out what you actually want to do after secondary school. That’s one of the main reasons I decided to start tutoring — I genuinely enjoy helping students build confidence in subjects they struggle with and showing them that learning does not have to feel impossible or intimidating.
Throughout school, I studied a wide range of subjects at Higher Level and developed strong study methods that helped me achieve consistently high results. Over time, I realised that success in exams is not just about “being smart”, but about understanding how to study effectively, learning exam techniques, and finding an approach that works for you personally. Every student learns differently, and I try to tailor my teaching style to suit the individual rather than forcing everyone into the same rigid approach.
I offer support across a variety of subjects, including science subjects, languages, essay-based subjects, and general study skills. I also provide help with Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate exam preparation, oral preparation, comprehension skills, grammar, essay structure, and improving confidence with written answers. I especially enjoy helping students who feel they are “behind” or who struggle with confidence academically, because I know how much of a difference patient guidance and encouragement can make.
Alongside subject tutoring, I also offer guidance for students interested in medicine, dentistry, and university applications in general. Applying to competitive university courses can feel very confusing when you are doing it for the first time, and I remember wishing I had someone to explain the process clearly and honestly. I can help with areas such as:
* medicine and dentistry application advice
* interview preparation
* personal statements/CV guidance
* HPAT preparation tips and strategies
* study planning and time management
* transitioning from secondary school to university
As a medical student, I’ve developed strong organisational and communication skills, and I understand the importance of balancing academic work with wellbeing and avoiding burnout. I try to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without feeling judged. My aim is not just to improve grades, but to help students become more independent and confident learners over time.
I have experience working one-to-one with students of different levels and abilities, including students who struggle with focus, confidence, or learning difficulties such as dyslexia. I know that traditional classroom teaching does not work for everyone, so I focus on breaking concepts down into manageable steps and explaining things in a straightforward, approachable way. I also create personalised notes, revision sheets, oral preparation materials, worksheets, and exam-focused practice questions tailored to each student’s needs.
I’m a very enthusiastic and approachable person, and I genuinely care about helping students succeed. I love seeing students become more confident in subjects they originally found difficult, whether that’s improving oral skills in languages, understanding difficult science topics, or simply learning how to study more effectively. I believe that with the right support and strategies, every student is capable of improving and reaching their goals.
My lessons are friendly, structured, and adaptable depending on what the student needs most — whether that’s catching up on basics, preparing for exams, improving confidence, or aiming for top grades. I’m happy to work at the student’s pace while still challenging them to improve and think independently.
