I am a classroom teacher with considerable experience leading stimulating and interactive lessons. I specialise in developing critical thinking skills in young people of all ages, from primary level debate to A-Level History source analysis. My tutoring sessions are filled with lively discussions and thinking games that bring learning to life.
I can help develop your capacity to question historical material from different perspectives, allowing you to be more critical of sources or of received historical narratives. For me, the history is a lot more than just learning facts, dates or event, it is about how we think about the past and apply it to the present. I will encourage you to make comparisons and contrasts with today, to help bring history to life.
I work on the basis that essay writing skills grow out of this ability to engage in discursive conversation. I have found that this allows students to engage with historical or political arguments more intuitively than in essay writing.
With primary aged children I focus on literacy skills and creative writing, specifically looking into how drawing and drama games can be linked into the literacy curriculum to help build bridges between these creative forms that children often relate to better.

Hi! I’m Imogen, a History of Art graduate from the University of Cambridge. Coming from a deprived area, the help of tutors, volunteers, and Oxbridge students were an essential part of my application process. Helping others get into Oxbridge is therefore a huge interest of mine.
I have experience with the History of Art Cambridge interview, as well as the general UCAS application process. In terms of personal statements, I succeded massively with my UCAS one, recieving 5/5 offers from all Russell Group universities. Additionally, I have experience in writing personal statements for school awards, job applications, and committee positions that I have held at university.
Creativity is a huge part of my life. Studying History of Art has allowed me to combine my A-Level subjects of Art, English Language and Literature, and History together in a way that has kept me motivated and interested during my degree. I aim to foster this same enjoyment with my students.

I am a recent First-Class Graduate in Classics from the University of Oxford and recipient of the Gibbs Prize for best overall performance. My undergraduate studies were fully funded by the Oxford Reach Scholarship, given on account of merit to only 2 international students per year. As a Course 2 student, I have experience learning an ancient language from scratch and excelling in it, having scored 76% on my Latin papers and 75% on my Greek papers. I am proficient in Ancient History, both Greek and Roman and excel at archaeological subjects, having received 75% for my undergraduate thesis. I have practical experience in excavations and museum work, as well as a unique perspective through my knowledge of multiple modern languages. I am capable of teaching students for GCSE, A-Level, IB and undergraduate degrees. I also deliver tutorials for Oxbridge applications, entrance exams (CLAT) and interviews and am able to give my students detailed insights into the application and interview process. I believe in an ambitious and organised approach to learning, in my time in education I have learnt two ancient languages from scratch and am able to speak 6 modern languages.
I am a recent 1st Class Cambridge University History of Art Graduate, who now works in the Secondary Art Market. I am passionate about sharing the subject’s richness and helping students build confidence, understanding, and skills in both deep visual analysis and historical context.
Having not studied Art History, or its equivalent, prior to Cambridge, I navigated the discipline independently, preparing for the Cambridge entrance exam and subsequent interview without any academic support. This process of self study and rigour, which led to a successful application, highlights my ability as a structured guide in the application and study of Art History.
My final year Dissertation focussed on the intersection between art and psychology, achieving a high first. Combining psychoanalytic theories with my own thesis surrounding the surrealist fetishisation of art, the Dissertation exemplifies my deep understanding of art from the post-war period and its influences as well as my ability to structure, plan, and complete a significant body of work alongside my studies.
This September I begun a job working in the secondary art market, which has exposed me to the contemporary art world, expanding my knowledge and artistic literacy to outside of ‘art history.’ I am keen to align the academic discipline of art history with the contemporary art world, encouraging my students to absorb and digest current affairs, improving their analytical skills and to visit as many galleries and exhibtions as possible!
I am passionate about sharing the skills which shaped my academic success; including first-hand experience of the current trends in higher education, having just graduated. I hope to be able to advise students on study skills, time management, task prioritisation and goal setting.
