Hi! I’m Mieszko.
For my A-Levels, I picked 4 STEM-based subjects, and enjoyed them, so I ended up putting a lot of time into them, and got an A* in each. In college, I also completed a gold crest project, a project in partnership with the NHS, and a project with DSTL.
I was successful in an application to study Computer Science at Oxford, while helping to lead a twice-a-week 2 hour long mentoring sessions, tutoring 3 other students with their admissions tests. One of these got an interview at Oxford, another got into Oxford, and a third was successful in applying to Cambridge.
Outside college, I do a decent amount of sports, including hiking, squash and judo, and I did a DofE award through explorers. I play piano, watch a fair amount of TV and read a fair amount of books – recently both have been This Is Going To Hurt.
Hi, my name is Abhay and I am an economics teacher at a prestigious private school in London, having graduated from Cambridge University (studying economics) with a strong Master’s.
I have extensive experience from practice and tutoring of TMUA, TSA and MAT papers, as well as GCSE and A-Level Maths and Economics, having tutored well over 1000 hours across four years.
Prior to university, I achieved 12 A*/9 at GCSE and 4 A* at A-Level at Westminster School. I received offers from Cambridge, LSE, Warwick and UCL for Economics, so I have an understanding of the admissions process. My role as a teacher of course only compounds this. Thus I also tutor for Personal Statements and, later, for interviews.
As an economics student, there is A LOT of Maths involved – hence me doing Further Maths at A-Level and achieving A*A* – I am kept fresh by the challenging Econometrics modules I have taken. Within economics, my strengths lie in Macroeconomics although my interest is probably in Micro! Outside of academics, I play the guitar, and sportswise I play cricket, badminton and football.
As a tutor, I teach collaboratively – you will be informing me of where you think you are weakest, and where you really want to focus – with a higher number of hours I would like to cover the whole syllabus, but this is not always possible of course.
Hey! My name is Shyam and I am a 3rd year maths student at Cambridge. I have experience teaching younger students during A-levels as part of a charity program known as MathsMakers, where I volunteered to help students catch up with their peers by guiding them to learn and truly understand the mathematics they are being taught rather than blindly accepting rules. I enjoy teaching as it allows to to give back to the world as well as the opportunity to ensure students can appreciate what they are learning instead of memorising content for the sake of memorising it. I attended a non-grammar state school growing up so was not given sufficient help when preparing for entrance tests and interviews and aim to ensure that others don’t have to self-teach and instead can be given the attention and help required to prosper.

Hi! My name’s Adam and I’m a recent graduate with a Master’s in Maths from the University of Cambridge, specialising in Quantum Computing, and starting a PhD soon. I know first-hand how stressful applications to the UK’s top universities can be because I was in this position just five years ago. I remember how opaque the processes felt, especially Cambridge’s – what should I put on my personal statement; which college is best to apply to; what style of questions will they ask me in the interview and much, much more besides. Having received an offer at interview, I then prepared for the challenging STEP exams which must be taken for entrance into Cambridge’s maths programme. Here I succeeded also and was admitted into Cambridge, where I eventually achieved the highest mark in Applied Maths at the Master’s level.
I can say in retrospect that this process was somewhat complicated by the fact that the information released by the university does not necessarily always line up with the realities. The process itself becomes much easier and less daunting when one has a guide who has recently been through it and therefore has up-to-date information. As an example, the decision of which college to apply to should not be taken lightly, particularly for those who are not able, for whatever reason, to visit Cambridge before applying. It is a decision that has considerations both academic and non-academic, one that is best made away from the front-facing veneer of an open day and one that is, once again, made easier with insider information.
The two services I primarily offer at this time of year are advice for applications (for Maths degrees, or similar, at Cambridge and other UK institutions) and preparation for interviews. The interview itself is ultimately run in the style of a mock supervision, where supervisions are the small classes attended by students two-to-three times a week – classes that are fresh in my memory. Using actual past Cambridge interview questions, I conduct interview preparation in the style of these supervisions. With teaching experience under my belt, I’m passionate about communicating Maths and like it when others enjoy it as much as I do.
I am a First-Class Engineering Science graduate from the University of Oxford, graduating in the top 10% of my year. Whilst studying mathematics, further mathematics, and physics at A-Levels, I achieved A*A*A*, achieving the highest mark in my sixth form across all three A-Levels whilst participating in extracurricular activities such as football, amateur rocketry and brass band.
I teach mathematics, further mathematics, physics, and engineering to students aged 11 through to University level. I also tutor students with the PAT entrance exam as well as conduct mock Oxbridge engineering interviews.
From GCSE through to University, I have focused on developing a deep understanding of my subjects to reduce dependence on memorisation during examinations. This helped me dramatically cut down the amount of time I needed to sink in to revision without compromising the quality of my revision, and allowed me to invest a lot of time into extracurricular activities. Having graduated, I am now investing time in sharing the skills I developed through school and University to help future students succeed.

My name is Kathryn and I am originally from Toronto, Canada. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences at Queen’s University in Canada and went on to complete my Master’s in Biomedical and Molecular Sciences also at Queen’s. My Master’s focused on cardiovascular research, which is a field that I will continue to pursue as an academic doctor as part of the Cambridge Academic Foundation Programme. Apart from medicine, I really enjoy the outdoors, cycling, and traveling. I also love trying new foods! As someone who didn’t have these supports growing up, I really want to give back and help other students navigate their way through medicine. After accomplishing my dream with the help of my mentors, I really think that mentorship is critical to this journey so I hope to be a source of academic support, encouragement, and most importantly, a friend.
