Hello, my name is Simon Hackett , and I’m an experienced tutor, Director at 4 Life Education alternative education provision, and ex Deputy Head at a vocational education setting. I’ve spent many years working with children and teenagers who haven’t quite found their place in mainstream school—and I know from experience that with the right support, the right approach, and a bit of patience, every young person can thrive.

I specialise in working with children who may have additional needs, struggle with behaviour or confidence, or just learn better in a different environment. I teach a range of subjects, including Maths, English, Construction, Sport, and life skills, and I always adapt lessons to suit the individual child. Whether your child needs help catching up, finding their confidence, or re-engaging with learning altogether, I aim to build a positive relationship first, because learning starts when a child feels safe, understood, and supported.

As a parent myself, I understand how important it is to know your child is in the right hands. I bring a calm, consistent, and encouraging approach to each session, and I keep communication open with families every step of the way. My sessions focus not just on education, but also on building your child’s confidence, self-esteem, and resilience. Every child learns differently, and I’m here to find the way that works best for yours.

I am creative, adaptable, and forward-thinking, with excellent communication skills and a proven ability to develop and manage relationships.

I am an ambitious, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual looking to develop my academic skills in the professional world of healthcare and science. I am also a keen learner in all fields and aspects. Further to add, I am adept at public speaking and am receptive to change, and willing to learn and take on board exciting challenges.

I like writing and have written several unpublished short books and articles. Aside from my love of traveling, I also enjoy playing sports and reading. Hi, my name is Lewis! I am currently studying in the UK’s highest ranked University for Computer Science, (Heriot-Watt University) and I share a passion for learning and educating others. From a young age I have always been interested in electronic devices, when I was 14 I taught myself the computer languages C and C++ and from that time I have since excelled at school and entered my dream University. I have faced some challenges in my life, including being an unpaid carer for my my two younger brothers who both have autism, however caring for them over my life has greatly aided in my communication skills and built resilience in tough situations. When I was attending high school I was recognised for my high proficiency in both English and Computer Science, an unusual combination which has greatly aided in my ability to teach others on the subject I am most enthusiastic about.

I have over 25 years of experience as a teacher and course leader at a further education college in Leeds, northern England. Throughout my career, I have taught a wide range of subjects across ICT, Programming, and Games Development courses – in particular computer languages and game engines. I also have extensive experience in web programming, database development, and general computer skills instruction.
In recent years, I have played a key role in the development and delivery of the T Level Digital Software Development course, teaching Python, software design, and software testing. I have also developed new units for the Access to higher education course that are now used by colleges nationally.
My responsibilities have included providing pastoral support to students, managing courses, ensuring quality assurance and verification standards, designing curricula, and interviewing prospective staff and students.
