About Me

Dear Students and Parents,

My name is Kyaw Lin Htike, a fifth-year medical student at the University of New South Wales with a distinguished academic background, extensive teaching experience, and a passion for mentorship.

Having received offers from UNSW, the University of Sydney, and the University of Melbourne, I chose UNSW for its prestigious undergraduate medical program. My expertise spans AP Biology and SAT Mathematics preparation, peer mentorship at UNSW, and medical interview coaching. Additionally, my medical experiences include clinical placements at the Prince of Wales Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, the Sydney Children’s Hospital, and the Royal Hospital for Women.

Through a tailored teaching approach, real-world applications, and proven exam strategies, I am dedicated to guiding students toward academic and medical success.” My goal is not only to help students achieve their goals but also to instill in them the skills and mindset necessary for future success in medicine and beyond.

My teaching style

I offer structured and personalised teaching, tailoring the approach to each student’s learning style, ensuring they grasp complex concepts effectively. By integrating real-world medical applications and personal experiences, I foster an engaging learning environment. My mentoring experiences enables the provision of strategic exam preparation, stress management techniques, and confidence-building strategies to help students succeed in both academic and medical settings.

My past experience

I have accumulated significant experience in teaching and tutoring across various subjects. At AKKARD Tutoring Service, I tutored AP Biology and SAT preparation, organizing weekly online sessions and providing tailored homework and practice tests for high school students. This role helped me refine my ability to adapt to different learning styles and offer personalized support, ensuring students grasped complex concepts.

Additionally, I served as a peer mentor at the University of New South Wales, where I assisted first-year medical students in acclimating to university life. I provided guidance on managing academic workloads, balancing personal life, and navigating the challenges of medical studies, further developing my leadership and communication skills.

I am also working with Trainstein Chess College, where I mentor students to enhance their chess skills. In this role, I helped students analyze games, develop strategies, and improve their overall proficiency in chess. This experience allowed me to foster critical thinking and strategic planning skills in my students.

My Proudest Achievements

I am the second author of an original study published in the Journal of Medical Robotics: “Enhancers and Disruptors of Effective Communication During Robot-Assisted Surgery.

I earned a perfect score on the AP Biology Examination administered by the College Board.

I received the AP Scholar with Distinction Accolade from the College Board, granted to students who received an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
