10About Me
Hi, I am Sayanen Sawmynaden, a medical student at Imperial College London. I have years of experience tutoring and mentoring A level and GCSE students. I attended Tiffin School for sixth form and secondary school where I achieved 12 9s at GCSE in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Design and Technology, French, English Language, English Literature, History, Latin and Classical Greek and 3 A* at A level in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. As a tutor, I will be able to highlight the key information and provide examination techniques that can help boost scores.
Additionally, having also received offers to study medicine at King’s College London and Barts and The London School of Medicine, I have a great understanding of the medical application process, from personal statement and the UCAT exam to MMI and panel style interviews.
I hope to be able to help students achieve their goals and pursue a successful career in medicine.
My teaching style
My teaching style is very student-centred. I adapt the lessons to each individual and each subject. For a GCSE or A level subject I find out what the student knows about the topic before building on their knowledge and teaching them exam techniques. I then aim to consolidate the new information using exam questions and homework.
For interview practice, I run mock interviews and provide feedback, highlighting the key points they could mention to ensure a stronger answer.
My past experience
I do have past experience with teaching. I have tutored a student, running mock interviews for his Oxford interview which led him to receive an offer and secure a place there for biomedical sciences. I have tutored an AS level maths student and two A level biology students who have found the lessons very helpful and are aiming for high grades. As well as this, I was a mentor at my school for younger students who I mentored on a weekly basis for two years.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement would include being chosen to be Head Boy of Tiffin School. I feel I made a huge difference in my role, organising events like the 11+ examinations and open days. My team oversaw the mentoring scheme at my school and it was incredibly rewarding seeing the difference being made to the younger students’ education.
