20About Me
I have enjoyed my four years studying Classics at Oxford immensely, and am now doing a PGCE (Teacher Training) at Cambridge University. I have tutored for four years on MyTutor, as well as leading eductaional programmes on prestigious international summer schools. When I’m not reading about Julius Caesar, I like debating, hiking, kayaking, and just generally exploring outdoors. I’ve been involved in Scouting in some form or another since I was six and in my current role as an assistant leader love helping young people learn new skills while having fun in the process.
I try to blend learning techniques, selecting the technique to fit the type of learning. I’m more than happy to be flexible about how I approach teaching as I think it is important that the teaching fits the student, not the other way around!
My teaching style
I tailor lessons to the particular needs of students so the learning style best suits them. To do this I use a wide variety of resources focusing on building core skills and then use past paper questions to combine this into effective answers. I focus on having student-focused lessons tailored to the individual that are flexible and engaging. Normally, I also set homework to reinforce learning and practice full written answers for humanities subjects.
I am to reinforce and support school teaching by focusing on gaps in understanding and developing a deeper and wider understanding of the subject that is focused on genuine and lasting improvement.
My past experience
4 Years online Tutoring working both with private clients and the governmetn post-COVID catchup programme. I have also lectured at prestigious international debating summer camps.
My Proudest Achievements
Alongside successful applications to Oxford and now Cambridge, I am increasingly proud of the continued success some of my long term tutee’s have shown in subjects they previously struggled with.
