About Me

I am a recent graduate of the University of Oxford, with a BA in Modern Languages (Italian and Spanish). Prior to attending The Queen’s College, Oxford, I achieved A* in Spanish, A* in Art and Design, and A in English Literature at A Level. Over the course of my degree I acted as Student Ambassador and Equalities Officer, and was the President of the Oxford University Cheerleading Squad.

With a wide variety of experience in teaching in a classroom as well as in a one-to-one environment, I am well-placed to provide tuition at Key Stage 2 – 5. I am up to date on examination syllabi and am confident in making my students aware of the requirements for achieving top marks. I am a friendly, patient, and enthusiastic tutor who endeavours to connect with my students personally and encourage them to feel comfortable and confident in their academic abilities.

My teaching style

I am approachable and friendly, and believe that a great teacher who has a strong connection with their pupil can make them feel inspired to work hard and achieve excellent results.

I aspire to make my students feel comfortable and relaxed during our sessions, unafraid to make mistakes. In doing so, I can identify areas that require more work with ease, and better plan our lessons to my client’s needs. Furthermore, my students learn that making mistakes is a natural part of learning and can motivate us to work hard.

My past experience

I taught English as a Foreign Language in Brescia, Italy, to Italian students between the ages of 8-14 when I was on my year abroad in 2022. I gained invaluable teaching experience and learnt how to effectively assess student progress and find target areas to work on. I planned all of my own lessons and carried them out over a three-month period, adapting each lesson to each of my classes and their learning needs.

I also have various one-to-one tutoring experience. I recently supported a Year 12 student with her application to study Spanish and History at Oxford. I provided two one-hour sessions weekly over a two-month period, and assisted with her personal statement, her MLAT entrance exam, and interview technique. Furthermore, I have tutored a GCSE Spanish student in the run up to her oral exam and, during my year abroad in Spain, I tutored two teenage girls (aged 13 and 16) in English as a Foreign Language over a two-month period. I have also tutored younger students in Literacy and Spelling.

My Proudest Achievements

My proudest achievement is being awarded the David Gibbs Prize proxime accessit for the best performance in Modern Languages for best Dissertation, receiving a mark of 75. I spent over a year reading and researching in preparation for the writing of my dissertation, and it was extremely gratifying to be rewarded for this effort.
