Emma
About Me
My name is Emma, a first year Law and French student at the University of Glasgow. I was raised in the German and French speaking parts of Switzerland, near Zürich and Geneva, where I learned to speak both languages. After moving to the UK, I began my GCSE’s, doing a mix which included Chemistry, Biology, Geography, French, German and English, among others, receiving A’s in the listed subjects. Continuing onto Highers, I received A’s for Higher Chemistry, Biology, Geography, French, German and English, and later completed my Advanced Highers in French, English and Biology, while doing my personal statement and LNAT exam for UCAS. Throughout high school and continuing at university, I do judo in my spare time. I am a brown belt who has completed her theory exam, and is working towards her points for her black belt!
My teaching style
My teaching style is working with the student to teach them according to the learning style suits them the best (for example, visual or more interactive learning?), with a large focus on learning from mistakes and working on exam preparation.
My past experience
I have volunteered teaching English to students over the course of a week at an English private school in Sousse, Tunisia, and have helped teach students at Sunday School classes and Girl Guiding sessions at churches in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
My Proudest Achievements
Completing my Gold Duke of Edinburgh award, and receiving my brown belt in Judo and passing the theory exam, both of which were challenging to work towards but worth all the hours!
