5About Me
I am a first-year BSc Pharmaceutical Sciences student at Queen’s University Belfast with a strong passion for teaching and helping others succeed academically. As an online tutor, I focus on making complex subjects like Maths and Science understandable by breaking them down into clear, manageable steps. My experience as a Peer Mentor and Founder of notes.gramm has allowed me to develop strong communication and problem-solving skills, making learning more accessible and engaging for students.
I aim to create a supportive and interactive learning environment, where students feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating in their learning journey. I’m dedicated to fostering student growth by tailoring my teaching methods to meet individual needs and ensuring that every student leaves with a stronger understanding of the subject matter.
My teaching style
My teaching style is student-centered, focusing on clear communication, active engagement, and fostering a positive learning environment. I aim to break down complex topics into manageable steps, using practical examples and interactive discussions to ensure understanding. I encourage active participation and ask students to apply what they learn through problem-solving and hands-on activities.
I adapt my approach based on each student’s needs, ensuring that lessons are tailored and flexible to accommodate different learning styles. Whether through visual aids, real-world examples, or step-by-step guidance, my goal is to make learning both effective and enjoyable. I am committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking risks in their learning process.
My past experience
As a Peer Mentor, I provided academic and emotional support to fellow students. I organised study sessions, shared tips for success, and created a positive and inclusive learning environment. This experience further developed my leadership and communication skills, as I was responsible for supporting my peers and guiding them through academic challenges. Furthermore, fluent in English, Chinese, and Malay, I can effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds, which allows me to build rapport quickly and adapt my communication style. I am also proficient in Microsoft Office applications and eager to learn new digital tools.
My Proudest Achievements
One of my proudest achievements is founding notes.gramm, an online platform where I created and marketed digital study resources. With no prior experience in running a business, I successfully generated over 1000 sales through Instagram and Facebook marketing. This venture not only required creativity and persistence, but also taught me how to manage customer feedback, adjust strategies, and build a brand from scratch. The impact it had on fellow students by providing accessible study resources was incredibly rewarding. This experience strengthened my entrepreneurial mindset, leadership skills, and ability to connect with and serve my audience.
