About Me

Hello! My name is Henry and I am an experienced tutor studying Philosophy and Theology at the University of Oxford, having achieved 3 A*s at A-Level, an A* EPQ and 11 9s at GCSE. I also received a Distinction in my first-year exams at university.

I love to work with students of all ages and levels of study. I bring a friendly and relaxed approach to tutoring, and am flexible and communicative in organising sessions. I have worked with tutees from 7 years old to Oxbridge applicants, as well as having previously worked multiple summers as a House Parent at an international summer school and as an Outdoor Activity Instructor.

I can tutor students for university admissions including Oxbridge; EPQ having achieved A*; Maths up to GCSE, having achieved an A* at A-Level and 9s in Maths and Further Maths at GCSE; Philosophy/Religious Studies/Ethics/Theology at A-Level, as this is my degree subject; Government and Politics up to A-Level, having achieved A* at A-Level; English up to GCSE having achieved 9s in English Literature and English Language at GCSE.

My teaching style

I have a relaxed and friendly teaching style, as in my experience the best learning comes when tutees are comfortable and encouraged during their sessions. I like to push students to a better level of understanding the concepts behind what they are learning, rather than merely memorising past paper solutions, as this allows tutees to approach whatever new material they come across both in exams and future learning more confidently. I always like to give lots of positive reinforcement, but will always also provide constructive feedback.

My past experience

I tutored for four months with Explore Learning, taking sessions on Maths, English and 11+ admissions tests. I volunteered last year as a tutor at Oxford Hub, tutoring Maths and English. I have done mock Oxbridge interviews for Philosophy and PPE at Oxford and Cambridge both privately and through my school.

My Proudest Achievements

Receiving a Distinction in my first-year exams at Oxford, running Brighton Marathon twice, taking a gap year despite being nervous to do so.
