About Me

I am a student studying Biomedical Science in the University of Sunderland with an integrated placement in the NHS at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. I have a passion for teaching Maths, Science and English as they were some of my favourite subjects in school, and since it hasn’t been very long since I’ve left my secondary education, I am well versed in those three subjects, science to a further level due to my degree. I hope I can be of help to all students, as I have a very specific methodology of teaching, personalised for each student, and will be happy to have the student’s input too.

My main hobbies are music and drama. Having been a musical theatre child, I performed in a lot of school dramas as well as in a band. I also headed the orchestra for some time and enjoy supporting people with their musical interests and hobbies.

My teaching style

I teach students with revision notes, flashcards, interactive quizzes, a mini mock ever so often and a lot of exam questions. I also made sure they were prepared for exam season, making sure that they focused on exam papers, and learning and revising through making mistakes with those questions, rather than making notes. I use topic questions to see their understanding after every topic, and after a full module or section of a subject I give an exam and they should pass with 80% and above or we go through the topics again.

My past experience

I teach students Maths, English and Science now using my teaching style, and they have come up with a 2 grade jump for their mock GCSEs after only 5 lesson. I have experience in teaching those younger than me in my school days, where I headed an afterschool session once a week for those who needed help with anything they were taught throughout the year. I have helped students with improving their musical talents as well, as I have played the piano and learnt singing to a high level (Grade 8 Piano and Grade 7 singing), and this helped me learn better communication with students as well as their parents.

My Proudest Achievements

My proudest achievement is getting my placement at university as it was an incredibly tough competition, with only 6 placements offered. I got my first choice and was told I was everyone’s first choice, which made me incredibly happy.
