About Me

Hi, my name is Arun and I am currently a 4th year medical student at Sheffield University intercalating in a clinical research project. I completed my A-levels, UCAT, and medical interviews in 2020. I had 4 interviews and received offers from all four. I am a well-experienced tutor having completed over 1500 hours of tutoring with Medic Mind in a range of topics, from GCSEs and A-Levels to UCAT and interviews as well as university consultations

I was one of the few students to undertake the A-level exams in November 2020 after my exams were cancelled due to Coronavirus. I am dyslexic so I have weird and wonderful ways to remember critical information and I hope I can support prospective doctors (dyslexic or non) to achieve their dream of becoming a medical professional.

I was not labelled as your typical medical student by my school. I continued to persevere until I reached the goal that I set for myself, with the help of my family.

I hope we can work well together and achieve what you want, just like I did. 🙂

My teaching style

I have experience tutoring, helping to teach my younger sister GSCEs, and now A-Levels and completing over 1250 hours of tutoring for Medic Mind. However, working as a hockey coach, Swimming Teacher and primary school teaching assistant, I can quickly evaluate and understand a student’s needs. Furthermore, I have been tutoring for Medic Mind for about 5 years now.

My teaching technique is relatively relaxed and the student could ask me any question that they feel necessary and be fun at the same time, but remain professional. I felt I learnt better in a fun and vibrant environment rather than being talked to, which I hope I will show you and you will enjoy.

I am quite young and having very recently taken my A-Levels and interviews, I feel as if I will be able to highlight any areas that I found difficult (especially from a SEN perspective). I have also helped to mark interview stations at my university, so understand the criteria needed for a good application

My Proudest Achievements

1. Would obviously have to be getting through the first stage of becoming a doctor and making my grandparents proud when I got accepted into medicine (now they feel like they win when they compare grandchildren with their friends and family).

2. Taking my A-Levels and achieving A*AA (which was very different from my CAGs predicted by my school – A*BC)

3. Being the NAMS (national medical school sport league) hockey champions.

4. Helping children to learn to Swim and watch them progress from being terrified of water to independently swimming (trust me I have a lot of funny stories)
