About Me
As a second-year medical student at the University of Leicester, I’ve successfully navigated the challenging journey of academic examinations and medical school applications. Having recently experienced the pressures of GCSEs, A-levels, UCAT, and the rigorous medical school application process, I understand firsthand the daunting nature of these crucial academic milestones.
My academic achievements include 4 Grade 9s and 6 Grade 8s at GCSE, A*AA at A-level, and an A* in EPQ. I also scored in the top decile for UCAT with a Band 1 in SJT. This strong academic background, coupled with over a year of tutoring experience in a range of subjects, positions me well to guide students through their own academic journeys.
As your tutor, I’ll provide personalised teaching tailored to your unique learning style. We’ll focus on extensive exam practice as well as going over content and I will share effective techniques to help you achieve high grades. My approach emphasises regular, committed sessions designed to fit around both our schedules, ensuring you reach your maximum potential and desired results.
I believe that with the right guidance, every student can excel. My recent experiences allow me to offer relevant, up-to-date insights into exam preparation and application processes. I’m dedicated to helping you navigate these challenges successfully, just as I have done.
My teaching style
As a dynamic and interactive teacher, I adapt my style to suit each student’s unique needs and learning preferences. I employ a versatile approach, combining authority, facilitator, and demonstrator styles to ensure maximum engagement and understanding. My sessions are highly interactive, keeping students actively involved in their learning process. By utilising multiple teaching methods, I not only impart key information but also gain valuable insights into students’ comprehension, allowing me to provide better, more targeted support. I emphasise practical application through extensive practice questions and mock papers during lessons, helping students apply their knowledge effectively and achieve high marks. Additionally, I assign and pre-mark homework, using these results to tailor subsequent sessions and address any weaknesses or confusions. This comprehensive approach ensures that each student receives personalised guidance and support throughout their academic journey.
My past experience
With extensive experience, I’ve tutored students from primary to A-level. Towards my final years n high school, I taught science and maths to younger pupils. I’ve since expanded my tutoring, offering sessions across various GCSE and A-level subjects through multiple tutoring platforms. My expertise extends to UCAT exam preparation, where as well as teaching UK students, I have tutored foreign students from India, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia. As co-president of the Leicester Medical Education Society, I regularly organise and deliver teaching sessions on diverse aspects of the medical curriculum.
My Proudest Achievements
Among my most significant accomplishments, securing offers from all four medical schools to which I applied stands out as a particularly proud achievement. This success required not only excellence in the UCAT examination but also exceptional performance during medical interviews, demonstrating my academic prowess and interpersonal skills. My co-curricular activities have also yielded notable achievements. Attaining a black belt in karate represents years of dedication, discipline, and physical mastery. This accomplishment reflects my commitment to personal growth beyond academics. In the realm of leadership and community engagement, I take pride in my role as co-president of a medical society at my university. This position has allowed me to contribute meaningfully to the medical student community, organising educational events and fostering a supportive environment for aspiring healthcare professionals.
Furthermore, my involvement in university’s sports societies showcases my ability to balance academic pursuits with extracurricular responsibilities. This role has enhanced my organisational and teamwork skills.
Lastly, my consistent high performance in medical school examinations is a testament to my academic diligence and aptitude in the field of medicine, reinforcing my commitment to excellence in my chosen profession.
