About Me

Hi there! I’m Chloe, a second-year medical student at the University of Leeds. I passed my first year with honours in both sets of exams, and have received top marks in both the research paper and essay I have completed so far this year. I take part in multiple societies here, such as Cardiology, Surgery, Medical Ethics, and Surf society.

I have long known that Medicine was my career of choice, and so applied myself throughout my work at school, receiving A*A*A*A in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Further Maths, as well as 9999999988A^ in English Language and Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Spanish, Economics, German, Music and Further Maths respectively. My specialty lies in Maths, Biology and Chemistry and I have elaborate notes from each of these subjects which I would love to share with you!

In my Year 13, I applied to Edinburgh, Cambridge, Manchester and Leeds, receiving interviews at all, as well an offer from Manchester. Due to a struggle with burnout, I decided to take a year out from study to tutor and travel, and reapplied to Cambridge, Bristol, Liverpool and Leeds, receiving interviews from all and offers from Liverpool and Leeds, settling on the latter due to its traditional, lecture-based nature. Whilst burnout is a hard struggle to face, I’ve developed ways to manage the issue and as you approach your exams and deadlines, I hope to be a friendly face to support you academically and give pastoral recommendations if you feel you so need.

My teaching style

Offering a judgement-free space is my priority – it’s important to get things wrong sometimes! I prefer to take a person-centred approach, addressing particular topics or concepts that are of the most concern and giving time to discuss these and resources to go away and practice. However, for longer teaching blocks, I acknowledge the need to create a more structured plan towards success, which we can discuss together during our first session to determine exactly what you would like to achieve from teaching.

Studying Medicine teaches you new and more efficient ways to learn and study than school is able to, and I’d be excited to show you how I’ve made studying more engaging and fun since leaving school.

My past experience

I have past experience as the former head of my school Medical Society which perfecting Medical School applications in prospective applicants, giving advice on where to apply, interview content, and personal statement reviews. I’ve also worked with Medical Students as practice examiners on their clinical exams and have provided tailored feedback on these.

My Proudest Achievements

My proudest achievement is earning an Investec Scholarship, for which I wrote a piece on the medical school application experience. I’m the first medic in my family, and it made my acceptance letters feel even more rewarding!
