About Me
Hi,
My name is Sara Khalil, and I am currently studying Biomedical Engineering at UCL. I am passionate about supporting students in both their academic and personal development, helping them achieve their goals and build confidence in their abilities. During my A-levels, I benefited greatly from the guidance of a tutor, which made a big difference in my learning experience. I hope to provide the same support to other students by sharing my enthusiasm for biology, physics, and maths, while helping them develop effective study strategies and a deeper understanding of the subjects. I enjoy making learning engaging and accessible, and I aim to create a positive environment where students feel motivated and confident. Having completed GCSEs, SAT, IELTS, and A-levels, I am experienced in guiding students through different curricula and helping them prepare for exams or university applications, offering practical support tailored to their individual needs.
My teaching style
My teaching style is flexible and personalised, as I like to try different approaches to find the strategies that work best for each student. I aim to create a light-hearted and casual environment, so that tutoring sessions feel approachable rather than intimidating. I believe that students learn best through a combination of practice and discussion. Practising problems helps to develop and broaden existing knowledge, while being able to ask questions and talk through concepts ensures a strong foundation to build on. By combining these methods, I focus on helping students gain confidence, strengthen their understanding, and enjoy the learning process.
My past experience
I have been a student mentor for the past two years, supporting students in exploring their interests and discovering their academic passions. In this role, I have helped students prepare for university applications and entrance exams, guiding how to approach different subjects and navigate the application process with confidence. I enjoy working closely with students to identify their strengths, build their skills, and boost their self-confidence. This experience has taught me the importance of tailoring support to each individual, helping them achieve their goals while fostering a positive and motivating learning environment.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement is being accepted to study Biomedical Engineering at UCL, a goal I have worked towards for many years. Another significant achievement is receiving the Crown Prince Scholarship of Bahrain, which was an incredible honour and recognition of my academic commitment and potential. Both of these accomplishments have motivated me to continue striving for excellence, and they inspire me to support and encourage students in reaching their own goals, whether in their studies, exams, or future aspirations
