Iona
About Me
Hello! My name is Iona, and I’m a 4th year MSci Psychology and Lingustics student at Brasenose College Oxford. I’m a dedicated and friendly student, and I love spending my time reading, writing, and singing. I studied English Language, Maths, and Spanish at A Level. In my first year exams, I achieved at Distinction (First equivalent), and in my second year, I achieved a First.
I’ve always enjoyed teaching; in school, I always took the chance to provide tutoring or help to younger students. My greatest skill is probably my essay-writing, and I think I have a few tips I can share! Additionally, I took the TSA entrance exam for Oxford, and got a 78.9 (in the top 5% of students). There’s not a lot of advice online for this test, other than ‘just keep taking practice tests!’ This might work for some people, but I know that I was very lucky to have people willing to work one-to-one with me on the problem solving and critical thinking skills involved, and I would love to offer you this same chance.
I hope to meet you soon!
My teaching style
I’ve always thought that learning should be as enjoyable as possible, so I like finding individual methods for each student, be that independent research, diagrams, past papers, or conversation. Finding the perfect fit might take a few tries, but it’s well worth the effort.
My Proudest Achievements
I won the Newnham College Cambridge Essay Prize for Psychological and Behavioural Sciences – it made me realise just how much I love writing & research.
