About Me
As an experienced English teacher with a passion for fostering a love of literature and language, I bring a wealth of knowledge and innovative teaching strategies to my tutoring sessions. My approach centers on top-down differentiation, challenging students to operate in their ‘struggle zone’ while providing tailored support to ensure progress.
With a National Professional Qualification for Leading Teaching (NPQLT) and experience as a Deputy Head of English, I offer expert guidance in curriculum development and exam preparation. My role as an AQA examiner further enhances my ability to help students excel in their English studies.
Beyond the classroom, I’m an avid reader and fitness enthusiast, believing in the importance of both mental and physical well-being. My goal is to inspire students not just to succeed in exams, but to develop a lifelong appreciation for the power of language.
My teaching style
I believe that all students have the potential to achieve remarkable outcomes, and it is my responsibility as an educator to help them realise this potential. I employ a top-down differentiation approach, intentionally setting high expectations and challenging students. This method encourages critical thinking and resilience while ensuring that support is embedded throughout the learning process.
I prioritise creating an inclusive and engaging environment where students feel valued and motivated. By utilising a variety of teaching strategies, I adapt my lessons to meet the diverse needs of my students. My experience as a Deputy Head of Faculty and an examiner has equipped me with the skills to design effective curricula that not only cover essential content but also foster a love for the subject.
Through this holistic approach, I aim to inspire students to become lifelong learners who are equipped for success in their academic journeys and beyond.
