About Me
Hi, I’m Isabella! I am Italian and grew up in London.
I have just graduated First Class with distinction (ranking 3rd/45 in cohort) from the University of Cambridge in Land Economy. In Sixth Form, I took Economics (A*), Spanish (A*), History (A), Maths (A), and an EPQ (A*), therefore I can help students develop both their quantitative and qualitative skills. For IGCSEs, I achieved 11A* via highly effective revision techniques throughout the year. To help students, I would develop a similar program tailored to their needs and goals.
For Cambridge admissions, I have worked closely with my Director of Studies and gained an insight into the characteristics professors often look for when assessing students – such as curiosity and critical thinking, among others. As a tutor, I work with students to go beyond the core curriculum and develop their opinions and evaluation skills. This has the collateral benefit of improving their essay writing skills, which is a fundamental for essay-subjects at A-Level.
Most importantly, I am aware of the importance of self-assurance in exams and interviews. Due to this, I aim to develop students’ confidence in their ability to breakdown unfamiliar problems, persevere and feel ready for the upcoming challenge.
My teaching style
I opt for a collaborative teaching style. In that, the student and I analyse the weaknesses, strengths and end goal, to develop a program together. I focus a lot on feedback and therefore regularly check-in to see what works/areas to change to ensure the sessions have a real value add and are enjoyable.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement is getting accepted into Jesus College, Cambridge. I was the first member of my family to apply to Oxbridge and therefore the entire process was incredibly foreign to me. I was not very confident at the time and so was reluctant to apply for fear of rejection. However, after focusing step by step on each stage of the process (personal statement, TSA, interview prep, A-level exams), I was able to prove myself wrong.
