About Me
I am a third year PhD student at Heriot-Watt University. This semester, I am teaching Machine Learning for Insurance and Survival Models. In addition to my teaching duties, I tutor students at MathsGym at Heriot-Watt, a drop-in helpdesk for any students at the university asking questions on any math problem. Prior to my PhD, I also worked as a research assistant at the University of Edinburgh.
I have passed 8 IFoA Exams and have previously worked as an Actuary at Canada Life, where I gained experience in valuation, modelling, and regulatory reporting. Prior to my PhD, I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh in Economics and Mathematics and a masters degree at Heriot-Watt University in Actuarial Science.
In my free time, I enjoy playing competitive table tennis.
My teaching style
My teaching style is interactive and student-focused. I ask guiding questions to encourage students to arrive at answers themselves, rather than simply providing solutions. I believe that practicing with past paper questions is key to mastering the material and passing exams. In my sessions, I focus on working through these questions in detail, helping students understand not just the correct answers but also the reasoning behind them.
