About Me
Hi there, my name is Sam, a tutor with Study Mind.
Motivated, friendly and passionate about education, I’ve always been a person who strives to do their best. Hopefully I’ll be able to use this attitude to share some of my knowledge & skills to help better the education – and more importantly the lives of those I tutor.
I’m a recent university graduate, with experience working in education at all levels of the secondary school system. Having recently been through university I know from first hand experience some of the challenges students are faced with. I’ll be able to apply what I’ve learnt the hard way – what to do and what not to do – during my tutoring.
Both of my parents have worked in education as teachers for decades, so I’ve been personally attached to the education industry for as long as I can remember. Their passion has been passed onto me through the years, so I hope to be able to pass this on as well.
My teaching style
In a word, I would describe my teaching style as patient. You have to be – it takes time to adapt and learn yourself how best to help others learn and this adaptability is a skill that I’ve had a lot of practice at developing. I’m laid back, and always try to communicate in a clear and calm manner.
My past experience
I have worked as a teaching assistant for a school year abroad in Spain, at an international British school. I’ve also had tutoring myself during university, so I know about the process and how it works from both sides.
My Proudest Achievements
Aside from graduating, I recently learned to drive, which took me a while to get around to but has been immensely freeing in my life since. I’ve also recently completed two of the 3 peaks – Scafell Pike and Snowdon – with my best friends, an achievement we all hope to further next year by climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland.
