I’m Prashan Perera, an organized, hardworking medical graduate with an excellent educational record, passion for health and wellbeing, and experience in hospital settings. A highly approachable, positive individual with excellent communication skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a knack for leadership. Dedicated lecturer of medicine with over 4 years of experience having proven constructive and effective teaching methods that promote a stimulating learning environment to medical students.
I’m on a mission to revolutionize the experience of being a medical student. My passion lies in making medical education not just accessible, but also captivating for students across the globe. While universities are incredible hubs of knowledge, they often operate on tight schedules, rushing to cover the syllabus. I’m here to change the traditional approach to passive studying!
I advocate for purposeful learning and am committed to empowering medical students to maximize their self-study time. My goal? To promote active learning methods, help students grasp the essence of their study material, ensuring they retain this knowledge for the long haul.

My teaching style
I’m set on providing quality medical education elevating your foundation knowledge in basic medicine while enhancing your skills as an elite of the clinical workforce.
I follow a methodical and well planned approach across delivering lecture topics, while understanding the importance of up-to-date educational material, with a step-by-step approach of in-depth understanding rather than the usual ‘memorize to pass’ approach offered by many institutions.
My past experience
Founder and Lecturer | The Med Commute
December 2023 to present
• Founded the WhatsApp based online medical student community – The Med Commute
• Lecturer at The Med Commute with a total student body of over 200
• Creation and sharing of Medical content (BlogSpot articles, global hub, research articles, SBA and T/F questions and lecture short /long videos), targeting medical students across the world.
• Plans to further increase medical information reach across the community by creating medical information videos for access by students and/or public.

Co-Founder and Lecturer | Medicine 101
February 2020 to December 2023
• Co-founded the online medicine lecture programme – Medicine 101 | Total student body : 190
• Developing syllabi and conducting lectures for select subject matter (Internal Medicine, Basic Physiology, Pathophysiology and pharmacology) in the programme
• Performing patient physical examination demonstrations for enrolled students
• Creating content and handling digital marketing for the programme on Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram and Notion Web Platforms
• Designed and developed digital media including logo for Medicine 101
