About Me

Hello! My name is Kelvin Agbakwuru, and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to support and inspire your child.

I am a passionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant with years of experience helping students overcome barriers to learning, particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. I believe every child deserves to feel confident, supported, and empowered, and I pride myself on creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where students can truly thrive.

With a background in teaching subjects like Mathematics, English, Economics, Human Resource Management, and Business Studies both in the UK and internationally, I bring a flexible, empathetic, and energetic approach to helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. I am trained in safeguarding, experienced in using de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies, and committed to tailoring my support to meet each student’s unique needs.

Whether your child needs help building academic skills, gaining confidence, or simply someone who believes in them, I am here to guide and support them every step of the way. I look forward to working together to unlock their full potential!

I can’t wait to meet you and start this exciting journey together!

My teaching style

My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and student-centered.

I believe every child is unique, so I adapt my approach to meet individual needs — whether that means offering one-to-one attention, using structured plans, or encouraging confidence through positive reinforcement.

I focus on creating a calm, nurturing, and inclusive environment where students feel safe to express themselves, make mistakes, and grow. I use clear communication, empathy, and patience to build strong relationships and help students regulate their emotions and behavior effectively.

When teaching academic subjects, I break down complex ideas into smaller, manageable steps and use interactive, real-world examples to keep learning engaging and meaningful. My goal is to empower students, help them build resilience, and support both their academic and emotional development.

Above all, I aim to inspire a love of learning while fostering independence, self-confidence, and a positive mindset.

My past experience

Yes, I do.

My Proudest Achievements

One of my proudest achievements is helping students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges build their confidence and succeed academically.
During my time at KKC Nursery and Primary School, I worked closely with several students who initially struggled to engage in the classroom due to emotional and behavioral needs. Through patience, consistent emotional support, and tailored learning strategies, I helped these students not only regulate their emotions but also make significant academic progress. Watching them grow in confidence — both personally and academically — has been deeply rewarding.

Another proud achievement is graduating as the best student in my department during my Master’s studies at the University of Lagos. It reflects my strong work ethic, commitment to personal development, and passion for excellence — qualities I bring into every learning environment I work in.

Finally, I’m proud of my ongoing dedication to professional development. Pursuing my Master’s by Research in Leadership and Strategy at the University of Bolton demonstrates my commitment to continuously improving my skills so that I can offer the best support to my students.

Helping students realize their potential, even when they face barriers, is truly my greatest achievement.
