About Me
Hi, I’m Nathan and I’m currently doing my 2nd year at the University of Sheffield studying English Language and Linguistics with Advanced Catalan. My research interests include Welsh bilingualism, historical linguistics, and romance linguistics. I have been tutoring for a couple of years and have taught multiple subjects including English (for UK students and for second language students), Spanish (GCSE & A-Level), and Welsh (all learners). I can teach beginners’ Catalan as I study B2 Catalan as a part of my degree. I love EVERYTHING to do with languages, I’m neurodivergent so it has been one of my special interests for most of my life. I have previously studied Welsh sociolinguistics at Prifysgol Bangor University for a few months and studied it through the medium of Welsh, so I speak Welsh fluently. I also studied French for A-Level so I can help with that but I prefer to tutor A-Level Spanish students.
My teaching style
Everything is tailored to you! We will take it at a pace that you find most comfortable and no lesson is ever boring. Mistakes is how we learn, I find that laughing and learning from them is the best way to go forward. All lessons will take place via Google Meet and you will have access to your own Google Drive folder where you can find all the lesson plans, useful links and documents that we’ll be using.
My past experience
I have been tutoring for a couple of years and have also worked as a primary school TA for a year and half. I also teach French and Spanish to KS1 & KS2 children every summer at summer camps with Lingotots, I have been doing this for 4 years, and I look forward to it every year!
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement would probably be studying Welsh sociolinguistics in Welsh-medium when Welsh is actually my 5th language! But, it is certainly my favourite language!
