Amelia
About Me
Hello! My name is Amelia and I am a current student at the University of Sheffield studying Biomedical Science. So far I have achieved a first class with every exam I’ve taken here and I got A*, A*, A at A level. I feel with my experience studying for, and taking exams I can give solid advice and help you smash your (or your child’s) exams too! At A level I took Biology, Modern History and Music so I have proficiency in a wide range of subjects. I’ve always been passionate about learning (that’s why I’m at university!) and throughout high school and sixth form I helped younger students with reading, and Biology at A level. I love helping younger students – passing on my knowledge and advice then seeing the results is really rewarding!
I am a very friendly person, with a lot of patience and a bubbly personality. It would be my absolute pleasure to tutor you and help you succeed in your exams!
My teaching style
I always put the student’s needs and requirements first. It’s important to make sure students are fully comfortable so they can learn their best and can ask any questions they need to without fear of judgement. I usually prepare lessons based on the hardest areas of the curriculum or common exam questions. However, I always ask the student if they have any specific areas the want to cover – this is the priority. Then towards the end of term, I include lessons about revision and exam technique.
My past experience
I do have some past experience with tutoring; at high school I helped students who struggled with reading and encouraged them. This was rewarding and built up my patience. At sixth form, I tutored students who struggled in Biology A level and this was excellent experience, really giving me a feel for tutoring and I had a lot of fun doing this!
My Proudest Achievements
Getting A*, A*, A in my A levels is definitely one of my proudest achievements. Opening the envelope and seeing those results after years of such hard work was such an incredible feeling, one that I’d love to help others get to feel! Getting grade 8 qualifications in both Clarinet and Piano is also a proud achievement of mine, as it’s something I’d been working towards for about 11 years! Finally, completing my first year of university with a first class is something I’m really proud about, as university is super challenging and it can get very overwhelming at times.
