About Me
Hello! I’m Nia, a current third year Graduate Entry Medical Student at Swansea Medical School. I have previously graduated with a First Class Honours in Medical Science, and I have always wanted to be a Doctor; I am incredibly grateful for my journey. My medical interests include paediatrics, psychiatry and emergency medicine. Just a few short years ago, I was preparing for my Medical School interview, so the required knowledge and skills are fresh in my mind, and I am eager to help you get into Medical School. I am well practised in lots of different interview question styles. I will be able to help you practise your technique and give you honest, critical feedback. For my own interview, I conducted a lot of thorough preparation. From that, I have gained a deep understanding of how to approach interview questions confidently. I have also enquired with professionals and students whom have been part of medical interview panels and I know what they look for in successful candidates, so I believe I have the best advice to help you succeed. I have informally tutored three friends for interview, who all received offers for GEM, and highly regarded my advice in helping them begin their journey. Lastly, I understand that the Medical School Application Process can feel daunting, as I have been through it recently myself, with many challenging hurdles to jump, so I am enthusiastic about also providing help to those who seek any kind of advice about the process, including personal statement help.
My teaching style
I believe in tailoring teaching to the individual, with the student being the centre of all sessions. Any topics that the student wishes to be covered, will be covered thoroughly, and can be revisited at any point. I also believe that a great way to boost confidence with interviews is via practise, so students can have as much or as little real practise as they wish, including interview mocks, where I will give honest feedback. The student will be taught not to rehearse answers to specific questions, but to learn specific techniques regarding how to approach any interview question that may be thrown at them on the day, and tackle it confidently and authentically. With previous students, I have taken the time to type up useful pointers/set homework after the session, so that students can concentrate on listening and engaging in the session rather than writing. I am very much open to any other suggestions students have as to how I can aid their preparation.
My past experience
I have informally tutored three friends during my spare time. All received offers after their interviews.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievements include successfully gaining a place at Medical School, which required a lot of hard work and dedication, running a half marathon, and I am incredibly proud of the Honours Degree I already possess.
