About Me

I am a driven, ambitious and enthusiastic tutor and medical student at top Russell Group University in London. I have years of experience teaching various subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Maths, UKiset, Medical Admissions Tests along with 11+ CSSE and GL, . The main focus in my teaching is allowing students to actively engage with the lesson allowing them to understand the content at hand, giving them the ability to freely ask questions throughout the study and using past paper questions to practice with students to provide them with a realistic idea of what will come up in their examinations. I constantly endeavour to create a strong rapport with the student, which builds foundations of mutual trust and respect, enabling students to feel comfortable to ask questions and engage with the lesson.

I believe that my experience as a tutor has allowed me to understand the difficulties and realities of tutoring online, students at times may not always be engaged with the lesson; this is because, in real life, there is an element of non-verbal communication that cannot be expressed online, therefore during my studies where I share my iPad screen, I make lots of use of the laser pointer tool to add some non-verbal communication element to my address and to keep students actively engaged. I understand that this is more difficult with younger students. However, ensuring the class is as interactive as possible can enable great success with student learning.

My teaching style

My teaching style is interactive whiteboard lessons; I use my iPad to annotate and write notes on the virtual whiteboard. My primary focus is to allow the students to understand the material through annotated diagrams. To ensure engagement throughout the lessons, students will be asked different questions, such as why something behaves this way or why this is the answer. I do not just aim for the students to memorise the material but instead to understand the material at hand. From the very beginning, exam questions will be used. I use exam questions from the beginning to help students understand how the mark scheme is structured. Starting exam questions early allows students to practice and perfect their exam technique for the most excellent chance of success in the actual exams.

My past experience

I have 3+ years of experience tutoring students ranging from KS2 to A-Level; I have taught international students who have achieved entrance into top private schools in the country through the UKiset examinations, and I have taught numerous Scottish N5 and Scottish Highers students achieving excellent A*/A grades at the end. I have experience teaching 11+ students on CSSE and GL examination boards, along with experience carrying out mock medical interviews for students looking to attain a place in a top medical school.
