Heidi
About Me
Hello my name is Heidi and I am currently doing a Masters in Music Management at the University of Leeds. Recently, I have just finished my undergraduate degree in Music at the University of Bristol. Before this, I undertook my A-Levels in 2020 and received offers from all the universities I applied for (Durham, York, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Bristol).
I am passionate about music and getting people to think “outside the box”. I have a wide variety of skills which I incorporate into my teaching styles and personality. As someone who regularly performs as a classical singer, I have great public speaking skills, creativity as well as professionalism which music has taught me. As someone with ADD, I have unique methods to making information stick and always keep persevering to reach my goals.
As the Employability lead at the University of Leeds for the school of music, I am also passionate about helping people follow their dreams and help with CV work, portfolio advice as well as just talking through plans. As people in school didn’t understand what careers Music can provide, I am passionate about proving that skills are transferable, rather than sticking into one degree speciality.
I am not your typical music student, as I believe in a holistic approach to learning and tackling problems. I always find new tactics until I succeed effectively.
I hope we can work well together and achieve what you set your mind to!
My teaching style
I have experience tutoring all kinds of subjects, from teaching a family-friend GCSEs and A-Levels to tutoring English as a Second Language from ages 5-70. Working as a Course Leader for international oxbridge courses, music and equestrian counsellor in America, Sports summer kids camp coach and a general music tutor, I have a plethora of experience from all countries and all styles of teaching. My variety of experience means I can adapt quickly to meet each individuals student needs.
My teaching style is relatively relaxed so it feels more collaborative, over a lecture style session so the students feels comfortable to ask questions, and voice their own opinions. I always find a learning environment which challenges students to debate and collaborate meant I understood the content better than being talked to.
I am quite young which is a benefit to the students. I am still in university so I have first-hand experience in what university is like which gives the students the opportunity to ask any questions about university-life, as well as any exam advice from someone who has actually sat exams recently.

My Proudest Achievements
1. Completing my undergraduate degree in Music throughout COVID-19, adapting to new surroundings.
2. As a singer, I have competed in singing competitions across the UK, won awards for singing in “Best Re- record or Adaptation in Online, Viral + Ambient Advertising” in 2022 and I am performing in Leeds Emerging Artist Festival 2024 (LEAF). I have also sang at St-Martins-in-the-Field (London) as part of my internship with TalentBanq
3. Volunteering my time to create branding and social media presence for Bristol University Singers which led to videos getting 10,000 views, higher concert attendance and new opportunities.
