About Me
Hi, I’m Niamh Walters, and I’m here to help you achieve your academic goals with confidence and ease! As a second-year Human, Social, and Political Sciences student at the University of Cambridge, I’ve developed a strong academic foundation and a love for learning that I’m excited to share with my students.
I have extensive experience in tutoring, teaching, and coordinating educational projects, which has taught me how to adapt my approach to suit different learning styles and needs. Whether it’s breaking down tricky concepts, preparing for exams, or building critical thinking skills, I’m passionate about making complex ideas simple and accessible.
My academic interests include politics, sociology, and gender studies, but my real strength lies in connecting with students and fostering a supportive, engaging environment. I’m organised, patient, and enthusiastic, so I’ll always bring energy and focus to our sessions.
I believe that learning should be enjoyable and empowering, and my goal is to help you not only succeed academically but also gain confidence in your abilities! i can’t wait to meet you
My teaching style
My teaching style is student-centered, supportive, and adaptable to individual needs. I focus on creating a positive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas. I aim to simplify complex topics by breaking them down into manageable steps, using real-world examples and interactive techniques to make learning relatable and enjoyable.
I also tailor my approach to suit different learning styles, whether it’s visual aids, discussion-based methods, or hands-on practice. I encourage active participation and critical thinking, helping students not only grasp the material but also build confidence in their abilities. My goal is to make learning collaborative and rewarding, fostering skills that extend beyond the classroom.
My past experience
Yes, I have extensive experience with teaching and tutoring. I’ve worked as an English teacher in Thailand, where I developed engaging lesson plans and tailored teaching strategies to suit a wide range of age groups and abilities. Additionally, I’ve tutored A Level Politics for over a year, helping students break down complex concepts into accessible ideas, and supported disadvantaged primary-school children as an English tutor, making lessons fun and interactive to inspire confidence and learning.
These roles honed my ability to communicate effectively, adapt to different learning styles, and create a supportive environment where students can thrive. I genuinely enjoy helping others achieve their academic goals and develop their skills.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievements include completing a course on U.S. Political Institutions at Harvard University, which deepened my understanding of governance and justice systems. Serving as Guest Liaison at the Cambridge Union has been an incredible opportunity to connect with influential speakers and foster engaging discussions. Additionally, travelling to Thailand at just 18 to independently teach English was a transformative experience, where I developed resilience, adaptability, and a passion for empowering others through education. These milestones reflect my commitment to learning, leadership, and making a meaningful impact.
