Mildred
About Me
My name is Mildred and I am an international student currently studying Medicine at Cardiff University. The road to medical school isn’t easy, but it is achievable with the right guidance and support. As a tutor, I hope to pass on the knowledge and advice that I have gathered over the years to help others on their journey to medical school.
I tutor children from GCSEs to A levels, helping them achieve grades that set them up for a strong application. I also offer guidance with medical school applications and help students in preparing for their interviews. Through mock scenarios, detailed feedback and in depth analysis with each student on their strengths and weaknesses, I help my students become well rounded applicants. Overall, I have been able to give my previous students the guidance into building strong medical school applications all the way from the grades needed to the skills required to succeed in their interviews.
I am extremely passionate that students get the best possible chance when applying to medical school; many students have the potential but not everyone is strategic with their applications. I hope to help as many students as I can step closer to their dreams of becoming a doctor.
My teaching style
I adopt a hybrid, or blended style, of teaching. I follow an integrated approach with teaching to help match my objectives with each student’s specific needs. I try to better understand how each student learns best and use that to ensure they get the maximum benefit out of our lessons.
My past experience
I have previously tutored students in their GCSE subjects over the years. Since getting into medical school I have also mentored many students on their medical school applications, and interview preparation ensuring they succeed in key components for a good medical school application.
My Proudest Achievements
Receiving an offer from Cardiff University for medicine, despite there being only around 20 spaces for international students each year. Being part of a Science Outreach group and leading a team that presented scientific ideas to a specialist school, introducing new concepts to children with various learning difficulties.
