9About Me
Hi, my name is Zakir.
I’m a 2nd year Medic at Cardiff University.
I have been tutoring for 3+ years in A-level maths. All my students have achieved their desired grades.
The reason I tutor is to truly help students achieve the best they can by providing my experience and guidance. I want students to be a complete package excelling in all areas of study. I will also help develop good study habits that will carry on throughout the students education. I do this because I believe one of the most under looked aspects of studying is the mentality/mindset. This is what stops many students from achieving the grades they want and working with me I will do my best to overcome this.
Also being a young tutor and having say the exams in 2023 I’d say this is my strongest trait. As a recent student I can truly emphasise with the exam stress and will help develop tactics to overcome this to ensure the student achieves the best grade possible.
I’ve been praised for my teaching style, often being compared by others to experienced teachers which I’m grateful for. I’m also continuously learning and would like to be pushed and am motivated by students who have a good mindset and attitude to learning and I want to bring the best out of them.
My teaching style
My teaching style is very individualistic to the point where I may shift order of content taught just to accommodate with the student. I will give advice on a student specific situation and give guidelines on what a model answer should be like giving students a goal to aim for.
Once students become competent I encourage individuality and creativity to truly bring the best out of students so they can achieve the top grades.
My past experience
3+ years tutoring experience With many students achieving a plus or a star and also mock MMI senior tutor. Also CURRENT. interview for universities in the UK.
My Proudest Achievements
Getting a student who was predicted a D in March to an A in the June 2023 exams even with the high grade boundaries.
Also I’ve helped so many students overcome the medicine interview process. Something which many thought was impossible for me due to having no work experience and had limited interview prep so I had to maximise my time spent and be very efficient. I’m grateful that through tutoring I can advise students on how to also maximise their time to achieve the best possible results in the shortest amount of time
