Hi, I’m James.
I have just finished my first year studying Engineering at the University of Cambridge and am tracking a high first having finished in the top 10 in my year in the mock examinations. I received offers from Cambridge, Imperial, Warwick, Durham, and Bristol and achieved 4 A*s at A level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Geography and 11 grade 9s at GCSE.
Having only undergone the admission process a year ago I have a complete understanding of the process and tips and tricks to help improve applications.
I specialise in Oxbridge and Imperial admissions tests and Interview preparation, but also offer tutoring for Maths, Further Maths, and Physics A levels.
After a year at Cambridge I am well prepared to provide high quality tutoring. Not only have I gone though the process myself, I have had many conversations with Professors, Fellows, Interviewers and fellows students and know exactly what admissions tutors are seeking and how to train my students to meet these criteria.
My teaching style
For interview preparation I conduct a mock interview using real past Cambridge interview questions and then provide an interview feedback session where I outline what was positive and areas and approaches needing improvement.
For admissions test tutoring sessions I compile questions for the student to work through with me. These questions are conceptually challenging and test the way the student approaches the question. I also outline the exam strategy so that the student has the best chance of scoring well in attempted questions in the time given.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement is receiving and meeting my Cambridge offer. It required a lot of hard work and sacrifice but was worth it.
