Ali
About Me
My name is Ali Rasooli, a 26-year-old Canadian with an honours degree in Biomedical Science from York University and a lifelong commitment to medicine. I am now in my second year of medical school at the University of Buckingham, steadily advancing toward my goal of becoming a physician. Along the way, I have accumulated a breadth of academic, clinical, and teaching experience that enables me to guide students through the very challenges I once faced.
My tutoring career began in high school and expanded through university, where I helped classmates and younger cohorts in everything from introductory biology to advanced biochemistry. Those sessions honed my ability to translate complex material into clear, memorable explanations and to tailor my approach to different learning styles. Beyond the classroom, I have worked in renowned clinical and research settings, including Toronto’s SickKids Hospital and the Project Horizon initiative, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient-centred care. As a medical content writer for the Care Clinic app, I distilled nuanced health information into accessible articles, sharpening my skill in turning dense science into plain language—a talent that now benefits my tutees.
My own path to medical school was neither linear nor effortless, and the setbacks I encountered have made me an empathetic mentor. I earned offers from programmes in both the United Kingdom and Australia, giving me first-hand insight into multiple admissions systems, interview formats, and personal-statement expectations. Today I share those strategies with applicants, helping them present their strongest academic and personal narratives. Whether a student needs to untangle metabolic pathways, refine exam technique, or practise for MMI stations, I bring a blend of rigorous subject knowledge, proven pedagogical methods, and real-world medical insight.
Ultimately, I tutor because I believe that knowledge gains value when it is passed on. The milestones I have reached—research publications, clinical placements, and medical-school offers—matter most when they empower others to succeed more smoothly than I did. If you are looking for a tutor who couples academic depth with a genuine passion for teaching and a track record of tangible results, I would be delighted to support your journey.
My teaching style
My teaching style is highly conversational, built on the belief that students learn best when they actively engage with the material rather than passively receive it. I design tailored PowerPoint presentations that break complex topics into clear, visually intuitive segments, enabling students to see relationships among concepts instead of memorising isolated facts. During each session, I prompt open dialogue, encouraging students to articulate ideas in their own words; this back-and-forth not only reveals misunderstandings early but also reinforces long-term recall. To deepen mastery, I develop scenario-based questions and case studies that require students to apply theory to practical situations, bridging the gap between abstract knowledge and real-world problem-solving. By combining interactive discussion, purposeful visual aids, and thoughtfully crafted application exercises, I create a dynamic learning environment that fosters confidence, critical thinking, and genuine understanding.
My past experience
I have past experience with tutoring in University I would tutor kids within my area helping them excel in High-school courses such as biology and obtain interviews at multiple universities
