About Me

My name is Harjoth Singh. I am a male 21 year old Qualified teacher within primary school (3-11 years). With a passion for learning and teaching, I have dedicated myself to helping students like you achieve their academic goals. I hold a in BEd Primary Education within QTS from University of Derby, where I developed a strong foundation in subjects including Maths and English, Educational studies and I took my curriculum enhancement within Physical Activity. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience through teaching at school through many different classes and tutoring students of various ages and academic levels, tailoring my approach to meet each student’s unique needs and learning style.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy my own hobbies including playing/watching football, tennis and cricket which I believe help me connect with students on a personal level and make our sessions more relatable and fun. I also have a big passion with music and I have learned to play 4 Indian classical instruments (Harmonium, tabla, Dilruba and esraj).

Thank you for considering me as your tutor. I am looking forward to working with you, helping you overcome challenges, and celebrating your successes along the way.

My teaching style

My teaching philosophy centres around the belief that every student has the potential to excel with the right guidance, support and motivation.

I strive to create a positive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing their thoughts. By breaking down complex concepts into manageable parts and using real-life examples, I aim to make learning both enjoyable and effective. I also use personalised learning plans tailored to each student’s strengths and weaknesses. My interactive sessions incorporate many resources and real-world applications to make concepts relatable. I employ the classroom method to foster critical thinking and use a flipped classroom approach for deeper engagement such as assessment for learning to assess how the student is progressing and seeing if at every point that the learning is making sence to them. These techniques make learning dynamic, relevant, and effective, helping students achieve their best.

In addition to my academic background, I bring patience, a good determination, creativity, and a genuine enthusiasm for helping others. Whether you need assistance with a specific subject, homework help, or preparation for exams, I am here to support you every step of the way. My goal is not only to improve your grades but also to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the subject matter and to develop your confidence. I understand that each student learns differently, and I am committed to adapting my teaching methods to best suit your individual needs.

My past experience

I have experience in working with many different year groups and tutoring some students in year 1 all the way up to year 9. This has included maths, English and Science. I currently have a year 6 class with 35 students which I helped prepare for SATS and I have worked in many different classrooms. This has included completing supply, by going into classrooms on a day to day and adapting to students needs, and then completing long term positions.

I have tutored students within music as well in teaching them an Indian classical instruments which has helped me to develop my techniques on how to tutor other students and what approaches to use.

My Proudest Achievements

My proudest achievements are my degree and how far I have come with my own needs where I was struggling at school and then going on to overcome challenges and getting my degree and my dream job.

I am also proud of how many students that I have helped to make progress at school, going from the start of year 6 having 9% of students expected to pass and to then going up to 73% minimum passed at expected. I also had every student in my class making significant progress in their SATS no matter what their needs were.
