Shreya
About Me
Hi, I’m Shreya, an Oxford History graduate who tutors English, Classics, and History for GCSE, A-Level, and Oxbridge preparation.
My approach combines:
Clear frameworks that make complex historical concepts easier to understand
LAMDA training (with Distinction) that enhances my communication skills
Speech and debate tutoring experience that I apply to academic teaching
I help students develop:
Strong analytical skills
Confidence in expressing their ideas
Effective exam and interview techniques
My Oxford background gives me insight into what admissions tutors are looking for, which helps me guide students through the application process effectively.
I enjoy helping students see connections between subjects and develop the skills they need to succeed across the humanities.
Looking forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!
My teaching style
My teaching style is friendly and approachable. I always start by making sure I understand what my students already know – their baseline understanding comes first.
I believe learning works best when students feel comfortable asking questions, so I create a relaxed environment where no question is considered “silly” or too basic.
I meet students where they are, using everyday language and relatable examples to explain concepts. Rather than overwhelming with information, I focus on building strong foundations before moving to more complex ideas.
I check in regularly to make sure concepts are clicking, and I’m always happy to explain things in a different way if needed. My goal is for students to feel supported and confident in their learning journey.
My past experience
1. Successfully prepared 3 students for the HAT
2. Helped a student secure an Oxford History offer
3. Assisted 2 students in obtaining Cambridge History offers
4. Supported 3 students who achieved grade 8 in GCSE English
5. Provided admissions support for 3 City of London applicants
6. Experience with 11+ exam preparation (Henrietta Barnett)
My Proudest Achievements
First Class degree from Balliol College, Oxford, positioning in the top 5% of my graduating class with the highest mark awarded for coursework. I was then selected as a William Westerman Scholar (1 of 5 from 50 applicants), demonstrating exceptional academic merit and research potential.
