Mya
About Me
Hello, my name is Mya and I would love to be your tutor! I am look forward to working with you and finding innovative ways for you to improve. My tutoring involves creative and individualised methods to facilitate learning.
My starting point is to establish how best you learn and identify reasons why you may not understand the specification. From there, we can work together, looking at questions, concepts, tricky topics and exam techniques to help you attain your goals.
Having successfully gone through the Oxbridge admissions process, I appreciate and understand what is required and would love to aid in different aspects of the process, whether that be GCSEs/A-Levels, admissions tests (BMAT), or interviews.
I am approachable, patient and understanding and I want to provide a fun and enjoyable learning experience. I believe that good learning is based on a trusting and supportive relationship between tutor and student, and that success is rooted in this.
My teaching style
My tutoring style involves identifying techniques which work best for the student, whether that be focusing on practice questions or creating diagrams to condense complex information into a memorable format. I want to foster a tutoring environment where students are comfortable to ask questions and fully understand the content before moving on. In terms of admissions preparation, my mock-style interview questions are challenging yet build in complexity so that prior knowledge can be applied to more abstract ideas.
My past experience
With over three years of tutoring experience, I have helped students with A-Level Biology and Chemistry, and provided support through the admissions process, involving helping to refine personal statements, supporting with the BMAT, and performing mock-style interview sessions for multiple students. I have supported students applying for Biology, Biomedical Sciences, and Biochemistry, and these students have gone on to obtain offers from Oxford.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement is being Access Officer at my university college.
