About Me
MPhil in physics and winner of the Institute of Physics Teaching Award. Also, winner of the Royal Society of Chemistry Teaching Award. I completed my PhD at Manchester University specialising in physical chemistry. In my undergraduate degree I achieved a first and won medals after gaining 100% in one of my final’s papers.
Published scientist with papers, patents, and posters. I believe application of science will lead to better job prospects.
I teach depth and breadth of knowledge to ensure that the subject is thoroughly known and that those important higher grades can be achieved.
My lessons are full of real-world examples to bring lessons alive. My lessons are multi-media based to engage many different learning styles.
As part of the metacognition process, I set homework (about 1 hour for each hour of tuition) so that material can be thoroughly embedded. I mark homework to provide feedback and thus provide a loop of learning.
My teaching style
My teaching style is collaborative learning based upon direct instruction followed by exemplars and exploration. As much of my tutoring is multimedia based this allows the learning journal to be precisely aligned to the student.
My past experience
I have been tutoring for over 10 years with A/A* students.
