About Me
Hi, I’m Vansh, a third year medical student with a keen interest in tutoring! I have had a difficult journey into Medicine which has made me all the more motivated to help students get into Medicine and succeed. After doing the IB programme, I missed my Medicine Offer and was forced to take an unplanned gap year, resit one of my subjects and reapply to Medicine. However, I was successful in my application, achieving offers from all of my interviews across both application cycles.
Applying to Medicine across 2 application cycles has given me a great insight into how different medical school interviews work, what the interviewers are looking for and how to succeed. As well as this, I have been on MMI panels so sitting on the other side has given me a lot of knowledge and tips about how candidates can present themselves well, be confident and get those all important offers.
My teaching style
I would say my teaching style is relaxed but dedicated, I always make sure I adjust my teaching style to fit the needs of the student. I like to make sure students have the opportunity to ask questions and always feel comfortable with my style. I also like to use anonymous feedback to understand what is working for my students and what they feel could be improved on.
My past experience
I have worked previously as a tutor in secondary school, teaching younger students a wide range of subjects.
My Proudest Achievements
I would say my proudest achievement is getting through the disappointment of missing my medicine offer and being strong and brave enough to take a gap year, when most of my friends were not, and working to get into Medicine a second time. Before this, I had no understanding of gap years and the thought did not cross my mind as no one I knew was considering this however looking back, it was the best decision I made. I think applying twice gave me a great understanding of what medicine involves and confirmed this is the course for me. I am incredibly proud of the resilience I showed applying to medicine twice and I have no regrets.
