About Me

Hi! I’ve just graduated from the University of Oxford with a first class degree in Biology (integrated masters). My masters project was on antibiotic resistance, but I’ve studied and taught all types of biology, ranging from plant biology, evolutionary biology to cell biology.

While I thoroughly enjoyed my degree, I found it academically challenging. However, it taught me valuable lessons in working efficiently and managing my time effectively, enabling me to strike a better balance between work and taking breaks.

In my free time, I love to play both play football (big Arsenal fan heads up!), netball, guitar, and piano. I also love to read, with my favourite genre being historical fiction. I am also very sociable and find that I particularly enjoy spending time with others. I enjoy creating a fun and encouraging learning environment, which I find benefits both myself and students, helping us make the most out of each lesson.

My teaching style

I offer two main types of tutoring: School/exam and university

School/exam: Before each lesson, I would like you to send me any topics you would like to go through. I can prepare material for us to go through. If there are no particular areas, I will choose one I feel will be challenging. Once I feel you understand the concepts, we can go through questions to consolidate your knowledge. If you would like, I can also set you additional work, however I realise you may be too busy and would rather focus on other subjects/independent learning.

A common theme I’ve noticed from tutoring is the importance of helping students tailor their answers to the mark scheme. In biology, students can often grasp the topic, but struggle to word their answers in the best way and therefore lose lots of easy marks. In my tutoring, I make sure to make it clear what the key words are to maximise your marks and make your revision process as easy as possible.

University: For students preparing for university, I can help by going through your personal statement, providing mock interviews or exploring new areas of research in your field of interest (helpful for personal statement and potential interviews). For students currently at university, I can go over any topics you are not confident with (please check the topics first) and I can help you practice structuring your essays.

If you have a particular tutoring style that works better for you please let me know and I will definitely incorporate it!

My past experience

Yes. I have tutored students from 11+ to A levels in person, at schools and online. I have I have a plethora of revision notes available for students at all levels and I have compiled a wide range of questions for different topics at levels. I have also recently gone through the university admissions process so will be able to provide timely advise on personal statements and interviews.
