About Me

Hi! My name is Fran, I’m a 3rd year medical student at the University of Sheffield and a tutor at StudyMind. I am passionate about helping students succeed, and am very friendly and approachable. I studied Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-Level as well as completing an EPQ. Having completed my A-levels and medical school application during the pandemic I am very comfortable with online learning and teaching methods.

I believe that lessons should be fully interactive to properly engage students and build their confidence. I aim to help students completely understand the basics in their subjects so that they can apply them effectively in exams and still feel secure when they are learning more difficult concepts. Practice questions are a key element of my lessons, as I think that they are vital to solidifying learning and improving exam technique

I have experience in tutoring, having taught in both one-on-one and group settings for GCSE and A-level. I know how to adapt my lessons to different students and their circumstances. My lessons are always well structured and have clear objectives so that students feel confident about their progress and can learn their strengths and weaknesses.

I know that when I was studying for A-levels and applying to medical school I found the resources and advice from older students super useful and it’s great to be able to help other people in the same way. If you choose me as a tutor I am sure that I will be able to help you reach your goals.

My teaching style

My teaching style is structured but flexible. I understand how important well-planned lessons with clear goals are for maximising a student’s learning. At the same time, my experience in tutoring has taught me the importance of tailoring my teaching style to adapt to the needs of individual students. My overall goal is to help students find the study techniques that help them learn effectively long-term so that they can continue to achieve their goals even after our tutoring sessions have come to an end. Learning good exam techniques through practice questions is key to consistent success.

My Proudest Achievements

Getting into medical school! I am also proud of the volunteering work I did with a Girlguiding Brownie pack for over three years, helping out the children who needed extra support such as those with learning difficulties.
