About Me

Medicine is without doubt a difficult course to get into, and there are a lot of hurdles even before arriving to an interview. As for each of these hurdles, they can all be quite daunting which is where my role comes in as a tutor.

Hello! I’m Amritanshu and I am a 4th year medical student who started in Newcastle, intercalated and transferred. I primarily teach medical interview preparation, but I also guide students through every part of the application journey—from the academics (EPQ),UCAT, personal statements to advising non-academic activities like work experience and how to make the most of it.

I’m genuinely excited to help you on your journey. Having been in your shoes, I know how essential guidance is at this pivotal stage. The interview process is incredibly sensitive—one misstep can mean waiting an entire year—so it’s crucial to approach it with care and strategy. If you choose to work with me, I understand that you’re trusting me with a key step in your career, and I’m committed to helping you succeed.

In all seriousness, we’ll put in the hard work, but I also believe it’s important to enjoy the process—this is an exciting journey and a small stepping stone towards your future career.
It’s also important for me to find the right tutor for you, and I believe in open communication
so we can figure out if we’re the right fit. Your success can depend on finding the tutor who feels best suited to support and mentor you, and I’m here to help if that’s me.

My advice to take away, whether you take a tutor or not, I urge you to start your preparation for your entire medical application as soon as possible. Many students underestimate the time needed to prepare for the standards required in the interviews and end up rushing. Slow and Steady gets you a place in medicine.

Additionally I am officially trained in stress management, leadership and teamwork.

My teaching style

My teaching style will be highly dependent on how much time I have to prepare you. For shorter time frames, I do crash courses, which is a faster pace and higher workloads. As for longer time frames, which I think works better for most students, I adapt my teaching style and can cover all topics.

My teaching style is interactive and tailored to your individual needs, while we reinforce what you’re already doing well and we will work strategically on areas that need a bit more attention. Our focus will be on practical, real-world scenarios, moving beyond the traditional textbook knowledge to tackle common interview questions, ethical dilemmas, situational judgment scenarios, niche themes, and recent developments.

Together, we’ll work on structuring your answers, practicing communication ,
Our goal will be developing your portfolio to help you stand out in this competitive field.
I believe anyone can enter medicine with the right preparation and hard work hence a lot of our preparation will include understanding how the system works and how you can adapt your skills accordingly.

On addition to Medic Mind resources, I create my own questions that are similar to what have been seen in interviews. My lessons are always pre-organised and I do enjoy spending a little time outside of sessions to provide extra work. I also assign homework that needs to be done in your own time and gets reviewed in lessons.
Whether it’s last minute or no preparation, I can adapt to each person.

My past experience

I’ve been tutoring from before Medic Mind however I only have around 100+ hours with Medic Mind.
I take only a few students that I fully invest my time in per interview season as I believe in quality over quantity.
Additionally I can tutor and guide for interview process in European Universities.

My Proudest Achievements

Scoring 860 on Abstracting reasoning in UCAT and completing my GCSEs with all As self teaching GCSEs in 4 months after transitioning from a different educational system.
