About Me
Hi, I am Freddie and I am a third year medical student at the University of Leeds. I would describe myself as a very hard working and friendly person, who is always enthusiastic to help others. At sixth form I studied biology, chemistry, maths and psychology. I also helped run the medical society, which included presenting and organising group discussions as well as inviting other speakers, such as GPs, to present and talk about their career.
I have a passion for science and helping students, both to boost their own confidence as well as for them to reach their full potential academically. I thoroughly enjoy learning new things and I find being able to teach others and support them with their learning is a really nice and rewarding experience. I have experience in tutoring several different students for GCSE, A-levels and medicine interview practice. I have volunteered at various widening access to medicine events to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds to get into medical school.
Outside of studies, I like doing sports, cooking and going out with friends.
My teaching style
My teaching style involves doing practice questions to identify the student’s weaknesses and then supporting them by working on them. This can include coverage of the content if they have very limited understanding or fixing small misconceptions if they are more secure with it. We would then do similar practice questions to ensure they have learned everything and to boost their confidence.
My past experience
I volunteered as a GCSE maths tutor in my school throughout year 12, giving lessons on a Wednesday morning, and I helped a student go from being predicted a 3-4 to being able to achieve a 6 in their exams.
My Proudest Achievements
I was the first person from my school to get into medicine whilst doing 4 A-levels and I managed to get offers from all the 4 medical schools I applied to. I got the highest UCAT score that any student at my school has had for the past several years. I managed to achieve 4 A*s in my A-levels. I received my black belt in taekwondo at the beginning of 2023 after doing it for a total of 7 years.
