About Me
Hi my name is Taylor and I’m a tutor at MedicMind to help other students who are currently going through the often overwhelming experience of applying to medical school. As the first member of my family to go to university, let alone medical school, I struggled to find the support I needed to enhance my application and ensure that I was best prepared for the process. However, with MedicMind I want to share my experiences and support you through each step of preparing and presenting yourself as the best version of yourself. Others would describe me as a bubbly, enthusiastic and friendly person which helps to make my lessons engaging and maintains a two way conversation to ensure you’re getting the most out of these sessions. I also understand the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle even throughout these stressful years of education and for that reason I’m extremely flexible in the times we work together so that it doesn’t cut into your preexisting commitments. Overall, my goal is to share my love of this degree with you whilst providing the knowledge required present yourself a as confident and professional individual.
My teaching style
As a visual learner I believe there’s great importance in using colour and diagrams when explaining the content to you, this also helps to keep the lessons engaging. I also use repetition and questions to maintain a two way conversation and ensure that we’re on the same page and move at the correct pace.
My past experience
Throughout the past 11 years I’ve taught gymnastics which has given me many transferable skills e.g. adapting the lesson to the learning style of the individual and keeping sessions engaging and easy to follow. Moreover, I’ve worked with MedicMind for over 3 years now delivering more than 800 hours of tutoring to students across a broad spectrum of subjects.
My Proudest Achievements
Academically, as the first member of my family to go to university, my proudest achievement is my acceptance into UCLMS and achieving the Paraskevaides 5th Prize for overall performance in Year 1. Furthermore I’ve continued to excel, meriting in years 2 and 4, and receiving the Wolfson’s Award for academic attainment and a first class honours in my iBsc. Non-academically my proudest achievement running the London Marathon.
