24About Me
I am a medical student currently studying at Cardiff University. At university, I am a MedSoc member alongside being part of WAAMS, a scheme that helps state-educated pupils in Wales get into medicine. Applying for medicine was a daunting and often overwhelming process, but receiving the right support was the key to success. This is why I am determined to help others achieve their goals. I know people’s strengths lie in different areas, so I am open to offer support with A-level topics, interview preparation, UCAT or personal statement guidance. My principle is always to listen to the student and tailor my tutoring to their needs. Therefore, I make sure to start by mapping out a plan for our sessions in order to ensure my students get the most out of the process and are on track to success.
My teaching style
I like to provide my students with lots of resources and feel it is helpful to signpost videos that they may find useful. As a visual learner myself, I know how helpful it is to see things drawn out so my sessions certainly involve lots of diagrams and drawings on virtual whiteboards.
My past experience
Within my school, I was part of a scheme that involved tutoring young Syrian refugees in Maths and English. This experience very much helped me refine my tutoring abilities and find the best ways to convey information across to others. At university, I am involved in WAAMS (a scheme that helps state-educated pupils in Wales get into medicine) which has given me the chance to conduct mock MMIs.
My Proudest Achievements
Getting into medicine has definitely got to be one of my proudest moments, but outside academia I enjoy playwriting. Therefore, I was thrilled when one of my plays got selected as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s 37 Plays Project.
