10About Me
Hello! My name is Nishi and I am a 4th year medical student at the University of Manchester. I have a massive passion for tutoring, with over 300 hours of tutoring experience over the several years I have worked with Medic Mind. I enjoy being an accessible and engaging mentor for students throughout every stage of their medical school application, specialising in UCAT (of which I scored within the top 20% in my cohort) as well as Chemistry and Biology GCSE/A-Level. I also focus on preparing applicants for interviews, specialising in the interview process for the University of Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham (the 3 universities I received offers from). I recently completed my intercalated degree, achieving a First Class in Anatomical Sciences (Hons), which I hope to utilise in my ambition of becoming an Orthopaedic Surgeon.
I remember how daunting this process can be, so you can count on me to be a friendly and familiar face that will help you increase your confidence, enhance your skills and achieve your goals!
My teaching style
A typical session with me includes an initial overview of the subject topic at hand. This topic is chosen based on the student’s own assessment of their weakest areas. We will talk through the key theoretical framework and then learn key exam techniques that will help you answer the questions most effectively. The majority of the session will then involve working through exam practice questions to ensure you have grasped the subject matter at hand. Homework can also be set between sessions if necessary. At the start of the next session, we will briefly recap the topics covered in the previous lesson to ensure you have memorised and fully understood the content before moving on.
My past experience
I have over 200 hours of tutoring experience. I work as both a medical school application tutor (primarily in UCAT) and a science tutor, specialising in Chemistry and Biology at both GCSE and A Level.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement so far has been getting a place on Medicine at my dream University! It was a moment that meant a lot to me and my family and took a lot of hard work and sacrifice. Finding out you were successful in your medical school application is a priceless moment, and motivates me to help others experience it for themselves.
