About Me
Hello! I’m Lauren and I have just graduated from the University of Oxford in Modern Languages (Spanish and Russian). This is my second year working with Study Mind, where last year I successfully helped several students gain admission into Oxford University. Outside of academia, I like to stay active, playing rugby for Oxford’s first team. I enjoy travelling and immersing myself in other cultures, which I did a lot of on my year abroad: I have lived and worked in Russia, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Hungary, and Kazakhstan! Living in foreign countries (often on my own) has made me an outgoing, enthusiastic, and proactive person. It was a very different experience to living on the farm I grew up on in coastal Wales!
I’ve had such a positive experience studying and living in Oxford, and I am excited to share what I have learned with others who are aspiring to study here too. I am happy to give advice on personal statements, interviews, or admissions tests, as well as tutoring GCSEs and A-Levels in a variety of subjects.

My teaching style
My teaching style is interactive, engaging, and student-centred. I believe that everyone has a unique way of learning and I tailor my tutoring to help students achieve their specific academic goals in a teaching style that suits them. Confidence building is the key to success, and so within a lesson we will set and achieve short term goals, as well as play plenty of revision games.
My past experience
I have tutored multiple students through their Spanish, History, and English Literature GCSEs when I was working for Oxford Education Partnership as a residential tutor, helping students to achieve their Grade 9 goals. I also have a Level 5 TEFL qualification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), which came in handy when I taught English to students at a school in Colombia for three months. I have experience tutoring primary, secondary and university students.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement is volunteering at a Venezuelan refugee centre in Colombia, where I did a mix of teaching and childcare. It was emotionally challenging but a rewarding and fulfilling experience.
