About Me
My name is Kinshuk Jain and I’m a 4th year medical student at the University of Leeds with a BSc in Medical Sciences from Imperial College London. I’m a dedicated and enthusiastic tutor with a genuine passion for science and maths with a strong focus on making it accessible and achievable for all.
First and foremost, let me express my sincere excitement about the opportunity to work with students like you. I truly believe that education is a transformative journey, and I’m here to be your ally, mentor, and guide on that journey. As a high-performing medical student, consistently in the top 10% of my year, I have honed in the required skills to appreciate complex math and science problems, constantly seeking new knowledge and pushing the boundaries of my understanding. This has allowed me to gain a profound appreciation for the intricacies and beauty of these subjects.
With several years of tutoring experience, I have had the privilege of witnessing incredible growth and achievements in my students. Their success stories fuel my passion for teaching and reinforce my belief that everyone has the ability to excel with the right support and guidance. From running science clubs, medical society lectures and private tutoring for GCSE/A-Levels, I have honed in the skills and mannerisms to effectively explain concepts in simple, easy to retain and applicable ways. I have extensive experience with all exam boards (most commonly AQA, OCR A and B and Edexcel) and have plenty of tried and tested tips and tricks to score in the top percentile for each of them. What makes me genuinely different as a tutor is not just my academic accomplishments but also my commitment to fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment. I firmly believe that education is not just about memorizing formulas and facts—it’s about cultivating a love for learning, developing critical thinking skills, and building self-confidence. Throughout our sessions, I will be patient, understanding, and supportive, tailoring my approach to your unique learning style and needs.
The feedback I have received from students and parents is truly humbling, as it highlights the impact I’ve made in their lives. Creating a safe space where questions are encouraged and mistakes are seen as valuable learning opportunities is essential to me. I genuinely care about your progress and will go above and beyond to ensure your success.
My aim is to take this exciting educational journey with you, where we will embrace curiosity, overcome obstacles, and celebrate achievements. Together, we’ll create a space where you can not only grow academically but also discover the joy of learning. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me to discuss your goals, schedule a session, or simply to learn more about how I can support you in your academic endeavors. I am genuinely excited to meet you and embark on this transformative journey together.
My teaching style
My teaching style is characterized by a student-centered and personalized approach. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and actively participating in their own education.
I adapt my teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles, incorporating a mix of explanations, examples, past-questions and interactive activities to ensure comprehension and retention of the material. I encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning skills, aiming to empower students to become confident and self-reliant learners. My ultimate goal is to not only help students achieve academic success but also foster a genuine love for learning and a deep understanding of the subject matter.
My past experience
I have extensive experience in teaching and tutoring. I have been actively involved in tutoring for 5+ years, working with 100+ students of varying ages and educational backgrounds from primary school to A-level/university.
Throughout my tutoring career, I have helped students excel in math and science subjects, including algebra, calculus, biology, chemistry, and physics. I have worked with students one-on-one, as well as in small group settings, both in-person and online. This experience has provided me with a deep understanding of the challenges students face and has equipped me with effective strategies to address their individual needs.
I’ve led a peer-assisted teaching society at my medical school for the past 2 years with excellent student feedback. Moreover, I’ve privately tutored GCSE/A-level students for over 5 years in science and math with majority achieving A/A* grades. The positive feedback and success stories from my past students serve as a testament to my teaching expertise and dedication to their academic growth.
My Proudest Achievements
As a tutor, my proudest achievements stem from the success of my students. Over the years, I have helped numerous students achieve significant academic milestones, however one sticks out to me.
Over lockdown, I was volunteering for a charity to provide education for under-privileged students who were missing out on crucial classes. As a result, I was mentoring a group of 5 students over 2 years to help them get into medical school and achieve their required A-level grades. Throughout the 2 years, I was able to see marked growth, improvement and a change in perspective towards education in each one of them! From being scared to even attempt questions to looking forward to challenging themselves, seeing them excel in their studies brought me immense satisfaction. Not only did each one of them get excellent A-level grades, they all got into their top medical school – I take great pride in supporting struggling students to overcome challenges and witnessing their confidence soar as they grasp difficult concepts. The joy of witnessing their academic achievements and the positive impact I’ve made on their educational journeys is what drives me as a tutor.
