About Me
Hello, I’m Hamzah! I’m excited to introduce myself as a dedicated and passionate tutor eager to help students reach their academic and personal aspirations. Here’s what I offer:
With over 1.5 years of teaching experience and over 350 hours of tutoring, I have successfully guided students from diverse backgrounds, helping them excel in their studies. My students consistently show significant improvements in both their grades and their confidence. Recognizing that each student is unique, I customise my teaching methods to fit individual learning styles and needs. I utilize a variety of teaching tools and techniques to keep lessons engaging and effective, including interactive activities, real-world applications, and technology integration, ensuring that learning is both enjoyable and relevant.
I hold a strong academic background, having achieved a UCAT score of 3130, 2 A*s and an A at A-level. Currently, I am entering my 3rd year of dentistry at Birmingham. My solid academic foundation allows me to provide high-quality instruction across a range of subjects. Despite having arrived in the UK only ten years ago, I have accomplished a great deal in a short span of time.
Beyond academics, I focus on nurturing essential life skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication. I strive to inspire a lifelong love of learning and to equip students with the tools they need for future success. I foster a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. My approach builds confidence and motivates students to reach their full potential.
If you’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced educator dedicated to making a real difference, I would be honored to be your choice. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a meeting. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
My teaching style
Firstly & most importantly, constructive criticism is a big part of my teaching and I am someone who won’t sugarcoat your errors or mistakes especially if major. instead I will give to you straight if I see major flaws that could cost you big marks and this way we can make sure to fixate on these mistakes and eliminated them in the future to maximise your marks that are available but more importantly the time you have with me so we can focus on squeezing all the marks we can once we eliminate major mistakes!
For the UCAT exam, this is my approach:
– Initial Assessment: I start with a comprehensive diagnostic test to gauge the student’s current level, pinpoint strengths, and identify areas for improvement. This assessment is crucial for customizing the preparation plan to their unique needs.
– Personalised Study Plan: Drawing from the diagnostic results, I develop an individualized study schedule that focuses on addressing weaker areas while bolstering strengths. This plan incorporates a mix of theoretical learning, practical exercises, and periodic reviews to ensure a well-rounded approach.
– Interactive Learning: The lessons are crafted to be highly interactive, utilizing various multimedia tools, practice questions, and engaging discussions. This approach keeps students actively involved and aids in the reinforcement of key concepts.
– Timed Practice Exams: Regularly scheduled timed practice tests replicate actual test conditions, which helps students enhance their time management skills and alleviate test anxiety.
– Comprehensive Feedback: After each practice exam, I provide thorough feedback and go over the answers in detail to explain mistakes and reinforce learning points.
– Skill Enhancement: The curriculum emphasises the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for the UCAT through puzzles, games, and real-world applications.
– Improving Speed and Accuracy: I teach techniques to boost speed and accuracy, such as skimming strategies for verbal reasoning and pattern recognition methods for abstract reasoning, to ensure students perform their best on test day.
– Practice practice practice…. Practicing questions has been proven to be the most effective way of acing all types of exams so this will be one thing that I will do alongside you guys to not only allow you to practice, but also for me to be able to be bt your side to direct you actively to use the best approaches and techniques to answer every type of question to the best of your abilities when actually practicing!
– Adaptability: I firmly believe that each student possesses a unique set of characteristics and learning preferences. To accommodate these differences, I customise my teaching methods to align with the individual learning styles and needs of every student. By employing a diverse array of instructional tools and techniques, I strive to create lessons that are not only engaging but also highly effective, ensuring that each student can thrive and achieve their full potential and get the most out of their time with me!
Lastly & most importantly, constructive criticism is a big part of my teaching and I am someone who won’t sugarcoat your errors or mistakes especially if major. instead I will give to you straight if I see major flaws that could cost you big marks and this way we can make sure to fixate on these mistakes and eliminated them in the future to maximise your marks that are available but more importantly the time you have with me so we can focus on squeezing all the marks we can once we eliminate major mistakes!
My past experience
I have been tutoring for the past 1 & a half years during university and mainly focusing on the UCAT admissions exam for dentistry and medicine and interviews for dentistry.
My Proudest Achievements
In 2012, I moved to the UK without any knowledge of speaking English, and 10 years later, I began my studies in dental school. This stands as my most significant achievement. The journey illustrates my resilience and determination, showcasing my ability to tackle and overcome formidable obstacles. During this time, I immersed myself in both the language and achieving academic excellence and fostering a profound passion for dentistry and academics. This accomplishment is a testament to my relentless dedication to my aspirations and my conviction in the power of perseverance.
