8About Me
Hi! I’m Ollie, I’m a third year undergraduate reading Chemistry at the University of Oxford. I’m about to begin a project in chemical biology for my fourth year.
I’ve been involved in access and admissions outreach with the Chemistry department at Oxford, so I know what kind of candidate the department is looking for, and I’m passionate about getting the very best students into Oxford.
I also have experience tutoring GCSE and A-level students, and love to help unlock the potential of students to achieve their best possible grades. I’d also love to talk about extracurricular Chemistry with potential Chemistry students at any university, and can offer advice on Chemistry-based personal statements and extended projects.
I have also done a number of advanced Mathematics courses throughout my degree, and so can also tutor Maths up to the standard of A-level Further Maths.
My teaching style
In a lesson I will start by going over key concepts first followed by worked examples and questions from homework, in the style of an Oxford tutorial. I would work with the student to identify areas of weakness and hope to reinforce those through the lesson, tailoring explanations as necessary.
My past experience
I have tutored GCSE Maths and Science and A-level Maths and Chemistry students in the past. I also have experience in offering mock interviews to Oxbridge applicants focussing on Biology and Chemistry (suitable for Chemistry, Biochemistry, Natural Sciences, Medicine, VetMed, etc.).
My Proudest Achievements
First and foremost, getting into Oxford, as well as getting a First Class mark in first year (which gets you a special gown!), and getting my first choice project for fourth year.
