About Me

My name is Rebecca, and I am a current undergraduate at the University of Oxford reading for an integrated masters in Biochemistry. I have always enjoyed Science, particularly Biology and Chemistry, finding myself fascinated by the chemistry of life. I am active in student life, being on the college rowing team and the netball captain I really enjoy teaching, as it is a fantastic opportunity to share my passion for these subjects, and this passion helps me to engage students in the content. I have also recently started writing for scientific magazines, with an article being published in Phenotype, and others commissioned. In my degree I have achieved a First in the Bachelors portion of my degree, and I am predicted a First for my Masters. I am an experienced tutor, having successfully tutored both GCSE and A-Level students to achieve their target grades.

My teaching style

I am an experienced tutor, having successfully tutored both GCSE and A-Level students to achieve their target grades. In my lessons, I like to have a balance between content and exam technique, as while knowing the content is important, the key to top grades is knowing how to apply this knowledge to questions. I teach students to recognise the patterns in questions. In terms of content, I start with the most fundamental concepts and then build up to the more complex theories and systems. In this way, I build not just memory, but also understanding, which is the key to accessing the best results. My aim is to work with the student in the way that suits them best, and there are no silly questions or bad answers. Through my dynamic teaching approach and practiced methods for success, I believe I can be an asset to your child’s learning experience.

My past experience

Yes! I have taught a number of students, and have really enjoyed getting to know and help each of them.
